TO CHRISTCHUHCH CITY COUNCIL. THEIR REQUEST REFUSED. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A laroiVstrike deputation waited on the City Council to-night, Jind urged that 'the Council should protest against the proposed'appointment of special constables. A motion in this direction was, after a long discussion, rejected only four members of the council voting for it. The council, however, deeded to ask the Mavoi' to call a public meeting of representative citizens to discuss the present industrial with a view* to, making representations to the Government to pass legislation to settle the present trouble.
