POSITION AT GREYMOUTH.
A FLAT DEMONSTRATION.
CRETFIT STOPPED TO STRIKERS
GREYMOUTH, Last Night
On Saturday the Federation held what was billed to be a, huge demonstration of workers, organised and unorganised, as a protest against the arrest of the strike leaders in Wellington. Heavy rain commenced to fall at the hour of starting, and tin* proceedings went very fiat. Very few came from Blackball, and the bands did not put in an appearance. The procession, headed by two red banners, consisted mainly of State miners, accompanied by women with perambulators. The streets were crowded with people. Owing to the continued rain, the open air speeches were abandoned, and an adjournment made to the Town Hall. Various speakers addressed the meeting, denouncing the Government, the Employers' Federation, fhe'Press in general, and "the local Press in particular. The citizens hold a meeting tomorrow to arrange for working* the port. It is understood local business people are stopping credit to all strikers.
