WELLINGTON, Last Night

The San Francisco steamer Moana was ready to *>afl to-night, but the anchor "calbes fouled, requiring assist-

anco of a tug to release the steamer, which got away at 10 o'clock. f The Drapers' Union to-night decid}ed not to accept the invitation to participate in a general strike, but the members will give voluntary contributions to assiist in cases of distress among the strikers' families. The following telegram was receiv- ' ed to-day by Mr Farlane, secretary of the Wellington Drivers' Union, from Mr George Davis, secretary of the Auckland Union: "Auckland drivers solid. Meeting to-day. Advise Wellington to stand firm. Victory in sight." About two thousand people attended a meeting at Newtown Park tonight. Addresses were given by Messrs P. Hickey, W. T. Mills, J. Payne, M.P., and several others, but no motion was adopted. All the speakers declared that though the leaders • were in prison, and though others might be arrested, there were plenty to fill their places, and the fight would go on. None of the strikers would go back to work lill they won the battle and got what they wanted. The men waiting in gaol were happy, and those who were fighting the cause outside need not be dismayed;
