SUPPLY OF MONEY.
"The supply of money continues to be anything but plentiful, and lending rates maintain a firm and fairly high level; The imports and exports, which are the chief controlling factor governing the local money • market, do not show a relationship calculated to improve matters," states the Trade Review, in commenting upon the state of the money market. "Until our.exports show a much larger balance we nnisf expect a continuance of shortness of money. The coming season gives every promise of, being one of the best ever experienced, but unfortunately this prospect is somewhat marred at present by the serious industrial upheaval now in" progress. The farmers are feeling this seriously, as they are unable to draw against their produce until it is .shipped, and, further, if tho dairy factories are unable to .ship tho butter and cheese they must soon be compelled to cease accepting supplies. Should the strike be continued much longer, or spread further, tho effect must be felt in our national income from exports."
Labour Congress • which inarched to Parliament House- "frightened the Government." The concoction of stories like this lias made good training for the syndicalists who are trying to run the strike on a basis of extravagant untruths.
