AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
SHORTAGE OF FLOUR AND SUGAR. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night, The strike is the'sole topic of conversation here. The local waterside workers going out has little effect, because nearly .shipping is suspended. The freezing works can store several weeks' production of butter and cheese, if necessary. The most serious feature is the shortness of flour stocks. There is sufficient in hand to last only a week or two. Sugar, also, is short, but can be obtained by rail. Many farmers are ready to assist the authorities either as free labourers or protectors.
