"IN THE EAGLE'S OLAW."
An enthusiastic audience Avas present at the 'P.P. Electric Theatre last evening, when the change of programme included the big Ambrosia .feature "In the Eagle's Claw." The play is a masterpiece in plot and acting, and well deserved the applause it received. Another fine drama was the Rex Go's, interpretation of "The Empty Box." The author, who is a cynical overbearing man, thinks that all women am shallow, and wanting in balance. He makes a wager with a ifriend, who champions the women's cause. The author empti&s his cigarette case and fills it with smoke, and his friend places it in the presence oif a woman. First one, and then another opens it. The third woman is selected by the friend. She does not touch it. The second woman tells her it is a trap that has been laid. Half in pique, she opens it, and.the smoke oomes out. She had picked up a cigarette belonging to the author, so fills the box again with smoike. When the anther sees the smoke still in the box, he congratulates her, but she tells him the truth. He tells his friend, who assures him that a woman who is. : brave enough to err and confess is worth having. The author thinks it out, and the cynic is lost in the lover. Other fine dramatic items were "Greed of Gold" (Kalcm), "Caught in His Own Trap" (Victor), and "The Creole's Love Story" (B. and C).
