DROWNING CASE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.> CHiRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The body of a man was found on Saturday afternoon in the creek at South Park. The creek has high, steep banks, but only two feet of water. The body was lying face down. A post mortem showed that the body was that of a strong man, 55 years of age. The condition of things pointed to the fact that death was due to drowning. At the inquest before Mr Bishop, S.M., District Coroner, Sergeant A. S. Bird, identified the body as that of William Salker, a shearer, formerly residing at Culverden. He was -of particularly steady habits. A verdict was returned of death due to drowning, there being no.evidence to show how the deceased got into the water.
