The fourteenth • ann'ual report and baknce-shcet of the directors of the Wairarapa Brick, Tile and Drainpipe Company, Ltd., states that the year's working shows the handsome profit of £912 17s, and aftcgr writing off £IOB 17s Id last year's loss, and £l9B 15s 6d, for depreciation of plant and buildings, they recommend paying a dividend of 6 per ,'cent amounting to £l9O 4s on paid up capital, and to carry the balance £415 Is 5d to reserve account. it is proposed to build a new kiln and drying shed to enable them to keep pace with the increased demand for the company's Mr W. Downard, a director, resigned his portion during the year, and Mr W. Howard Booth was elected to the vacancy. The v retiring directors are Messrs A. H. Krahagen and T. G. TJnderhill, who retire by rotation, but being eligible offer themselves for re-election. The local Tradesmen's Association has set up a committee to traverse the proposed new track from Carterton to Mount Holdsworth along the Maungatarere Valley, with a view of examining its possibilities, and estimating the cost of making , a good line to travel over. It is stated that the proposed new • track travels through much finer scenery than the present one, and / will be four miles shorter from Carterton. It would enable visitors Ito reach the mountain, make the ascent, ;u}d return the same day. ' I The Greytown Bowling Club will officially open the season this afternoon and the members of the Carterton Bowling Club have accepted an invitation to be present. It is proposed by the local Tradesmen's Association to make a further, effort to induce more outlying settlers to connect with the telephone service.
