AMUSEMENTS.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTUREI. "DETECTIVE BURNS." The screening of Detective Burns in "The Laud Swindle Exposure" was responsible for a large and appreciative audience at the T.P. Electric Theatre last evening. The film is over 3000 feet in length and is by the Kalem Company. The story is interesting, and holds the attention of patrons from start to finish. The leading parts are taken by Detective j Burns and Miss Alice Joyce. "The River Pirates" was a Lubin feature, giving a realistic account of the doings of a gang of smugglers. "The War Hostages" was a Kalem drama of the military order, giving an episode of the American Wars of Independence. A fine comedy was shown in the Gem Company's "Billy's Mistaken Overcoat." Billy has a tiff with wifey, which is accentuated when he brings home the wrong overcoat containing a loving epistle. The two decide to part, and book rooms at the hotel. The clerk, however, makes a mistake, and put them both in the same room. Needless to say, happiness soon reigns. A very fine drama with a rather pathetic theme was shown in "The Burglar who Robbed Death." .It was by the Selig Company and showed how a young physician, who had fallen through drink and had lost his family and money, took to burglary for a living, and how he was redeemed. Some very fine" educational items were shown in "The Baseball Industry," j "Views of Winchester," and "Industrious Japan." Several comedies included "Polidor is Invisible" and "Bloomer and the Egg '< Powder." This programme will be shown again this evening.
