A CURIOUS POSITION.
IN N.S.W. ASSEMBLY. (Received Last Night, 9 o'clock) SYDNEY, October 15. A curious , complication has arisen over the prorogation of the New South Wales Parliament. Both Houses, after the Assembly had dealt with Bills sent from the Legislative Council, adjourned till 4.30 p.m. to-day, not intending to sit again. As one Bill still required the Governor's assent, Sir Gerald Strickland insisted that such assent was necessary while Parliament was still officially in session, and the House should again meet. In the meantime most of the members had scurried to the country for the election campaign. Finally, after an executive meeting and a conference between Sir Gerald Strickland and the Hon. W. A. Halman, the former issued the prorogation proclamation.
