: Alfred Edward Day, aged seventeen years, who was found unconscious on the beach at Devonport, and removed to the hospital, died an hour > later. Day spent Friday night in "town, and returned home by the ferry steamer. He confided to a companion that his girl had thrown him over, and said he was going to take his life. His companion, noticing that Day had a bottle of poison, and was in a blue mood, reported the matter to a constable, and the search resulted in Day being found at midnight in a dying condition. t
