THOMPtON-PAYNE PICTURE*.
"BEHIND THE FOOTLIGHTS."
Both Saturday sessions at the T.P. Electric Theatre saw the house full up, and each programme had an excellent reception. The evening's change included the Clarendon special "Behind the Footlights" (a resume of which appeared in Saturday's issue). The popular Rex Coy. were responsible for a very fine society play in "Her Friend the Chauffeur." John returns from a lomg trip. His sister Grace wishes him to meet her girl friend, Betty, at a ball the next evening. Both girls are driven to the ball in red motor cars: John does not go, bnt promisee to meet Grace after the dance and bring her (home. He gets there before .the time, and decides to! change places with the' eihauffeur. It is all \arranged; he rung off to get some cigars, and on coming back he jumps into the red oar standing at the entrance, a lady is put ,m, and he drives off at a great speed. They aro Btopped bjr a motorcycle policeman; the girl screams, and John finds that it is not, Ws sister, hut her friend Betty. Sne notices that he is a gentleman, pays his fine, and leaves him. Jdhn reads an advertisement the next morning, asking the young man who ran away with a young girl to call and ha would be engaged as chauffeur. John obtains the position and falls in love with Betty. The butler gets sick and John takes his pla»ce. A gambler has Betty's father in his power with a view to ruin him. John saves the situation Grace acquaints them that John is, her brother, and his little romance ends (happily. "Belle Boyd" was a Sehg drama dealing with an episode of the Civil War. Miss Ormie Hawley appeared to advantage in the Ivubin drama "Dolore's Decision." "A Seminary Competition" was a fine story of a girl's college. "Opossum Hunting" and Eclair Journal ably Represented the interest section, while a host of comedies included "Angel Cake and Axle Grease" (Lubin), "Kri Kri's Shoes," "Bloomer and the Beauty Show", CSnes, and "Oh, that Lemonade" (Crystal). This series will be repeated this evening.
