AN INTERESTING STORY.
THE LATE KING EDWARD.
CONQUERS AX ADVENTURESS
Times' —'Sydney Sun' Special Cables, (Received Last .Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, October 11.
The reminiscences of Glover, of Drury Lane, which have just been published, contain an interesting story concerning the late King Edward. It is stated that a certain Cabinet Minister chanced to include in his domestic entourage a lady who had become famous in the Divorce .Court. In an indiscreet moment, the Minister left most valuable diplomatic papers in the lady's possession, 'while he entered a rest hospital. Had the contents of the papers been disclosed 3 war would inevitably have resulted. A loyal secretary to the Minister, and the Premier at the time,, called upon the lady, but were unsuccessful in their efforts to procure the papers. The lady held tight to them until she was invited to tea at Buckingham Palace. Here, in the presence of a third party, the late King, by his affability, accomplished in fifteen minutes what had cost the entire Cabinet three weeks of worry and diplomatic "funk."
