"SNIDE" AUCTION ROOMS.

OWNERS PROSECUTED

'Times'—'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received Last Night, 7.40 o'clock.) LONDON, October 10.

The Public Prosecutor is taking up, ft case against men connected with'.a "snide" auction room in the Strand, charged with assaulting a who tendered a sovereign in payment for a twopenny knife,-but received no change. The Scotchman called next day but three of the defendants attempted to eject him, breaking his .nose. They were remanded in custody. The press is filled with complaints from people whb were "fleeced" at such places. Scotland Yard f states that they are unable - to take action, the people not caring to make a specific charge.
