The recapture of Dibra produced a 'sanguinary conflict beyond anything that has yet bean witnessed in the Balkans. The Albanians defended the place house by house,, and only abandoned their shelter when, the walls fell about them. They contested every yard of the s4o>eets with any weapon at hand.
The Servians' admit that the Albanians behaved like heroes and when the last of the Albanians were expelled Dibra was a mass of smoking ruins.

Greece hap notified the Powers that she relies on' them to carry out the Treaty of London in respect to the Aegean Islands.
PROMISE BY SERVIA. (Received October 3, 10 a.m.) VIENNA, October 2. Servia has promised, with a view to averting international complications, not to hold territory in Albania after defeating the insurgents. ATHENS, October 2. The Greeks have evacuated Dedeagatch, which place Turkish irregulars have occupied. GREEK RESERVISTS SUMMONED (deceived October 3, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, October 2. Reuter's agent at Athens states that owing to Turkey's attitude, the 1900 to 1906 Greek reservists have b§sn summoned to assemble within three days.
