WORK OF THE SESSION.

The Prime Minister intimated in the House of Representatives yesterday that he intended staying where he was until the work of the House was finished. He did not intimate, however, what .measures he intended bringing before House, so that it is impossible to judge how long the session will last. Some surprise will be felt at the announcement of the' Premier that the Government intended taking up JMx Hindmarsh's Destraint for Debt Limitation Bill. We pointed out in a recent issue that if this measure is placed upon the Statute Book it will compel tradesmen, in their own defence, to limit the credit to working men. The effect will be that in times of depression the demands for charitable relief will' be endrmouslv increased. We can see absolutely no reason, for the protection of more than £25 worth of furniture against destraint. It means this, that if the worker canaot get credit,, he will sell his furnitnra fiir what it will fetch, as the uphappyv.people of Dublin have been doing of late.
