PHYSICAL TRAINING.
It is satisfactory to note that, despite the mud-throwing indulged in by partisans in the House of Representatives, the scheme of physical training inaugurated by the Hon. James Allen, under the supervision of Mr Royd Garlick, is being enthusiastically supported by the teachers of the Dominion. A physical training school for teachers was, for instance, recently held at Gore. At its conclusion, a public demonstration of a number of the principal exercises was given in the Town Hall. There was a crowded attendance, and the work as demonstrated was ft revelation to the onlookers, who enthusiastically applauded every fresh movement. The display of gymnastics and physical culture given in the Masterton Town
Hall last night afforSed striking evidence of the good work that can bo achieved by a proper system of physical training. We are confident that when the system i® in thorough working order a .narked improvement will bo manifest in the health and physique of the young people of the Dominion.
