Mr and Mrs H. Jackson, of Featherston, have left for Wellington, where they will iu future reside. A Sydney Sun special cable announces the death of Rear-Admiral Sir Robert Keith Arbuthnot, at the age of ninety years. The Rev. C. J. Smith left Pabiafcua yesterday for Te Kuiti, where he will have temporary charge of the Anglican parish. Mr W. T. Wood has decided to return to Palmerston North, and to contest that seat at the next general election in the Opposition interest. It is understood, says a Thames telegram that Captain Seddon, who recently returned to the Dominion after passing high examinations in administration and economics, and was appointed to take charge of the No. 2 (Hauraki) area, has tendered his resignation and returned to Wellington. Mr J. Oeorgeson, who has been for some years in charge of the Mastertoin office of the Labour Department, has received notice of his promotion to the Dunedin office, where he will be second in charge. During his stay in Masterton, Mr Georgeson has idenT'.fied himself with many institutions and movements which make for the social well-being of the community. He is at present President of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, Vice-presi-dent of the Wairarapa Athletiq. Society and Masterton Harriers Club, aad a member of the committee of the Masterton Competitions Society anil the Masterton Swimming Club. His departure from the district will be Tory much regretiecl, but ji£ fli*"^ B will be pleased to know that his transfer will mean substantial promotion. Mr Georgesoin leaves for in £bout a fortnight's time. He will be succeeded by Mr J. C. Yorke, of Oamaru. A Christchu.'ch telegram states -that Mr Cecil T. Matthus, M.A., has.been selected as the Cin7erbury v nominee for the Rliodes Scholarship.'\ Mr Malthus has had a brilliant scholastic career, and is a well-known long distance runner. Mr O. B. Nicholls, organiser of the No-ficense Council, met with a severe accident last evening, says a Christchurtih message. Mr Nioholls was riding a moifcor cycle and collided with a tram car. He was removed to the hospital, where he lies, in a critical condition. v
