„ MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of r Mauriceville County Council was held "J on Saturday, September 27th. Pret_ sent: Ors J. E. Perry "(chairman), jj Bobt. Judd, L. P. Larsen, C. Church-ill-Jackson, and C. Seymour. i Mr Kennedy wrote, complaining of ' the condition of the Wangaohu Boad at the frontage of th© Tikitapu homep stead. He suggested that about ' half a mile of the road should bo at G once mealed, «nd offered to cons tribute half the cost, provided the adr joining owner did the same. It was a pointed out that since the date of Mr e Kennedy's letter the formation had fi been repaired, ana the council had 1 previously applied for Govemmentp s assistance in metalling the Wangaohu. \ ~ and Oreyor's Rock Road; it was - deemed advisable, therefore, to see I what assistance will be given by the h Government before proceeding with t the metalling, which is expected to be s costly. * The unexpended balance of the loana ' | for two bridges on Mangatainoka 3 Valley Road, which had been forward- - ed to the Department, was returned I | with a note, stating that the loan 3 could not be adjusted until after the - first payment of interest (due in ; November) had been^jnade. i Mr W. Nation wrote, complaining i of the rough state of the metalling >' recently done at hia frentage, and • ! requesting some blinding to be done. I Or Seymour was authorised to got a ' load or two of blinding material put i on. Ho was appointed to arrange for stable to bo removed from Mauriceville West to Hastwoll, whero it can be used by the carters. Or Dagg was granted leave of absence. Mr T. G. Roberta waited oh tho council, pointing out that he'had been very inadequately paid for the work I he had done on tho road to his land. Ho was reminded that tho amount f.greed to when ho asked for a«sist- ; ance had been paid, and that the ex- ( tra work was not authorised by the J council. This he admitted, but said i ) that he had to da this extra work on { the road before he could get access '. to his section. Ho was told that the f matter would be considered, and thanking tho council, withdrew. Subsequently it was resolved to allow him a further payment of £5; the two payments being about half the cost of the work done. Accounts amounting to £223 V.)s od were passed for payment. I
