CLEARING SALE. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co., Ltd. (lato Jas. Macintosh and Co.), report having held a very successful clearing salo on Tuesday, September 30th, when they offered the whole of Mr W. H. Wiltom's dairy herd and young stock. The cows came forward in very good condition, and there being a good attendance of buyers, bidding was very keen throughout. The prices were as follows : —Cows (second and third calvers), £7 7a o'd to £9 los, fourth and fifth calvers £5 as to £7 7s 6d, empty cows and lato calvers £3 to £1 10s, yearling heifers £2 Is, 18-months heifers £3 4s. WAIPOUA STOCK SALE. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. Ltd., report having held their usual weekly sale in their Waipoua (Masterton) sale yards on Wednesday, October Ist, when they offered a yarding of sheep and cattle well above advertised numbers Thoro was a very good attendance of buyers, but bidding was not as keen as at late .sales, especially for fat ewes, but most of the cntry was sold at tho . following prices : Woolly hoggets 15s to 19s lOd, fat wethers and maiden ewes 2-1 s Id, fat ewes 17s 3d to 18s 2d; fat ewes, dull of salo, passed at 23s (3d to 225. Springing heifers £5 5s to £6, 18months heifers £3 10s, yearling heifers £2 3s 6d to £2 15s 1 , yearling steers 36s tojls 6d, dairy cows, very dull of sale, £4 to £5. SOLWAY STOCK SALE. Tho N.Z. Loan a*nd Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—We hold our usual weekly sale at Solway yesterday, when we submitted a small yarding of sheep and a fairly largo one of cattle to the usual attendance of buyers. Competition was not vf>ry animated, but wo managed to make a good clearance at the following sales: Forward empty ewes 17s 3d, steers £5 10s, yearling steers £2 12s 6d, yearling heifers £1 17s to £3 lis, store cows £3 15s, backward dairy cows to £4.
