A SYDNEY MURDER.

VERDICT OF GUILTY. (Received Last Night, 7.40 o'clock.) SYDNEY, Oct. 1. Walter Merrifield has been found guilty on a charge of murdering his partner, Clarence Kefford, who was killed in August last, through an explosion of gelfgnite in a room in wbfch he was sleeping. Merrifield told the police that fcfe had caused the esplosiom, with tho object of frightening Kefford, befceving that he was fthsent from tjhe room at the time. The jury who brought in a verdict of guilty strongly recommended Mor- ? rifield to mercy on the ground of his good character. A sfcafcemen* made by Merrifield showed that Kefford opposed a proposal to admit a third partner to their, market garden or dissolving partner-' ship.
