THE LABOUR PARTY.
The Masterton Labour Party, which lias decided to paddle its own oanoe, as it were, has formulated an objective and! platform. With the objective, wo find ourselves in thorough accord. The interest in local and general political matters is a very desirable- thing, and nothl- - could be mora encouraging than the desire of the industrial classes to assist measures that will make for the-advancement of the district. The platform enunciated by the party is of a somewhat ambitious character: but, in view of the isolation of the local party and the fact that Labour interests throughout the .Dominion are divided, it cannot be taken too seriously. Of course, if the Masterton party can secure the 00-operation che-workers in ©flrer rural' districts, it may be able to achi"ve something? Working by itself, it cannot be more in general prtlitics than a good electioneering committee for the candidate of its choice. \.
