MARTINBOBOUGH SALE.
' M«BUg' Abra£* m a * d Williams, Ltd., report oil their Ma:* tlnborou g h sale held yesterday as tinder: Stock came forward in excess of advertised numbers, a full yarding resulting. The attendance was large and buyers from outside districts • were present, but business at auction was irregular, the bidding at times being animated, and on other occasions the reverse. The quality of the cattle offered was not quite equal to late sales with the exception of Mr F. MoLeod's 3-yr-old steers, which sold for £7 12s (3d, were particularly good as regards breeding but some on the small side. Most of the lines of bullocks passed at auction were sold' afterwards, and there was a good demand for young steers and dairy- heifers; Sheep on the whole were well competed for and all changed hands with the exception of one entry. Mr Larcomb obtained 26s 4d for a line of 170 aged ewes with a good per oentage of b'.f. lambs, which were well grown and in fine condition. Quotations: 3-yr steers £6 10s to £7 12s 6d, 2-yr steers poor £i Is, yearling steers £2 to £2 1.6s according to quality, yearling heifers £2 Is to £3 Is, forward cows £6, ewes and lambs 26s 4d, small hoggets 13s 3d, fat ewes 20s, fat" wethers 265.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Masterton report having held their usual monthly sale at Martinborough on Thursday,' 18th inst., when there was a good representative attendance, and a large entry of stock, which Tealised the following prices : —Forward 4 to 5 year bullocks £9 10s, 3-year steers £6 to £6 15s, 2-year steers £4 ss, springing heifers £5 2s 6d to £7'. The contractor's plant came forward in good order,, and met with ready demand. Draught horses £24, £26 15s, £2B to £3l ss. Implements and sundries sold well at current rates. PALMEESTON STOCK SALE. At Palmerston North, on Thursday, 18th inst., ' a medium yarding of stock was offered at the following quotations: Ewes and lambs 21e 2d, light fat. ewes l-7s 7d to 19s 7d, 3-year bullocks £7, 18montn heifera £3 to £3 Bs, yearling heifers £2 12s to £2 18s, fat cows £6 10s, forward cows £4 7s.
