THE NEW ANGLICAN CHURCH.
The consecration of the new Anglican Church In Masterton by the Bishop of Wellington will mark an epoch in the history of matters ecclesiastical in this district. For nearly forty years the Anglicans of Masterton have worshipped in .that edifice at the corner of Church and. Dixon Streets which forms a land-mark in the town. The growth: of settlement and the development of the district have compelled increased accommodation for the congregation, and this has been provided in the handsome brick structure which will to-morrow be conse? crated by the Bishop. It Is almost incredible to think that a sanctuary and equipment costing, approximately £IO,OOO could be provided by the people of the Church in the course of a few years. Yet this is what has been accomplished in Masterton. Headed by a vicar who was filled with faith, hope, and enthusiasm, the office-bearers of the church have worked assiduously towards the goal which, they have now attained. The opening of the new Church is only another evidence of that magnificent spirit of generosity and goodwill that characterises the people of the Wairarapa as a whole.
