AMUSEMENTS.
( THE NORWOODS. The popular entertainers, who visited the Wairarapa 18 months ago, aticT who have since been amusing large, audiences in Australia, China, -. Philippines and South Africa, open for a three nights' reason in Masterton, commenting Monday, September 22nd. Writing* of a recent performance, a critic said: "Few peo- i pie realised what uproarious mirth ] could be occasioned by hypnotic sug- ' gestion till they had seen the Norwoods. The performance proved a distinct success, and the possibilities of cataleptic trances, somnambulism, mental telepathy and control by hyp* notism were proved in a manner that won prolonged merriment and ' applause. Mr Norwood's world is itific, and a revelation of the ihfirmi- . ties- of the average human personality '•in the presence of one gifted with magnetic power. Such infirmities are common, and their effects remarkably funny. Miss Winifred Norwood gave a surprising exhibition of thoughtreading, and in each case did what was required without the utterance of a single word. Certain requests are obtained by Norwood. The telepathist, after being thrown into a ' hypnotic trance, comes among the audience blindfolded, and the passage ,of thought waves between Norwood aaad herself produce the result. Some of the tests were considerably difficult." "The Norwoods" have recently been appearing at the Opera House, Wellington to crowded hous- , es. A complete change of programme will be given each night. Seats, may be reserved at the Dresden. •
