The ' preliminarygames in both sections were concluded, leaving Canterbury, and Wai-.. rarapatp ,play off for the 'championship on Thursday. Buller had the best of the game, but_ were continually stalled off by the Igood defence of the opposing 4>acks. . Hawke's Bay. (10) beat Taranaki; (1). This was a furi ove? Hockcv Association, a letter was received from the English Hockey Association, gft'ing the'terms <>» which the committee is willing to send * team to New Zealand as follows: (IVTeam to leave England in April, 1914, and play 12 matches in New Zealand, oyer a per- » iod of six weeks; (2) all fixtures and. * arrangements to be. in the hands of ithe New Zealand Association; (S) all boards boat arid train expenses -in New Zealand to-be guaranteed by the N.zi' Association, and' after paying for match expenses, the balance of ; gate receipts to be paid to tb.e touring account, into which the English Association will pay a sufficient sum, to cover boat fares between New Zealand, and when the tour is'completed the balance in.thVbank to be diyjd : eofas follows: (1) All board, and tfain expenses in New Zealand to be paid; (2j boat fares from England* to New Zealand and back to be refunded pro rata;j (3) any balance to be divided equally between English - and New Zealand association,, arid in the event of a deficiency expenses to be paid in the'order naied.
