WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION.

OOMMITTE MEETING. The usual committee mooting of tho above was held at Carterton on Saturday evening, Mr A. Booth presiding. ' Correspondence was received: From Hawkc's Bay Rugby Union, enclosing this union's proportion of gate receipts in connection with the junior represtMitative match played recently at Napier. From the New Zealand Rugby Union Appeal Committee in connection vith the protest of Dalefield Club against Carterton IT. in the Pearson Oup match, upholding the action of the Wairarapa Union in supporting the referee, who alone is sole judge in all matters of fact, in connection with aony game. From the secretary Wairarapa A. and P. Association, requesting repairs to fences at Cartei'ton showgrounds, while grounds were \mder the Union's control. —Left to secretary to atiehd to.

From Carterton third-class team, protesting against the win of Red Star thirds in the final play-off .on. August 30th, on the ground that Red Star played men who were not eligible to play in this grade.—After a thorough discussion, it was decided that the union could take no action as ;the match was in order according to present rules of the Wairarapa union. The matter of amending the classification rules to make them more definite on this subject will be attended to later.

A senior player appeared before the committee and expressed regret at having questioned a decision of the referee and walking off the field, in a match which took place recently. — Decided that the player he severely cautioned, and warned that for any future misbehaviour the present offence would count against him, he also to send a written apology to the referee and Rugby Union. , . Sevesal junior players, belonging to various clubs, also appeared before ths committee to answer charges of misbehaviour while on tour with junior representatives.—After hearing the manager of the team and the players, it was decided that t'he action of the manager in reporting the plavers - bo upheld, but that a severe caution and warning against a repetition of the offence in future would meet the case. Wellington Rugby Union wrote stating that their players could not obtain the necessary leave to enable them to stay over Sunday in Wairarapa, and also asked that the match on September 27th, at Masterton, be played early in order to enable their players to catch the first afternoon train back to Wellington.—Decided that owing to the very early hour at which the game would have to start, that it would not suit Wairarnpa players or the public, <and notify Wellington Union that arrangements could be made for their team to return by the 6 p.m. train. A list of local senior referees is to be submitted to Wellington for selection. The matter of making all arrangements in connection with the senior representative match Wanganui v. Wairarapa, to .be played at Carterton next Thursday, was left in the hands of the local delegates. Mr E. McKenziej manager of the representative team on the southern tour, .submitted a full report oh the trip, together with a detailed account of expenses in connection with same. —Mr McKenzie was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the manner in which he had conducted the tour. Accounts amounting to £3l 8s were passed for pay nout.
