THE CHELMSFORD STAKES. WON BY DUKE FOOTE. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, Sept. 13. ' The race for the Chelmsford Stakes resulted as folloTre :

Twenty-four horses started, but none of the New Zealand horses faced the harrier, Duke Foote, getting a. clear run on the rails on entering the straight, went to the front at the distance. Though Beragoon threw out a good challenge, Duke Foote won, full of running, by one and a-half lengths. Radnor was four lengths away. Cider arid Andelosia followed/ Time, lmin 56|seo. Gigandra, carrying 10st 41b, and ridden by the New Zealander, Arthur Oliver, beat tventy-five others in the Tramwty Handicap, and once more emphasised the fact that he is the best sprinter in Australia. The field included Valido (9.1) and Athenic (8,2) who was favourite. The latter led to the distance, but then faded away; The Spring Handicap was won by Tartumus (6.7), with Emperador (8.7) second, and Cagon (83.) third. Twenty-four started, including Eleo trakoff (8.7). Emperador was pa; tiently ridden by C. Emerson for second place behind Alluied, who was beaten at the distance, and put up a. great race in the The light-weight won by three-qusrters of length, half a length separating the second and third horses. Electrakoff was fourth. Time, 2min lO^sec.. Don Quex started in the Hurdles, but pulled up, the" jockey having lost a stirrup. Banksia (7.12) started inthe'Noyice Handicap, which was wota by Kirribilli (6.7), from Cherubinf /cmm Seven started. The Welter was won by Hartfell, who earned lOst. 21b.
