LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. {By Telegraph — Prets Association.) NAPIER, Last Night. The nineteenth annual championship tournament of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Club was opened at 'the Waioahiki links this morning, in fine weather, but with' a strong westerly wind, which interfered somewhat' with ( the play. Shortly after 2 o'clock, the wind lulled, and rain began to fall, continuing intermittently throughout the remainder of the afternoon: The course was in perfect order, and the greens played exceptionally well. Forty competitors have entered for the championship. Nine games, completing the first heat,, were got off during the day.
