HE FIGHTS DESPERATELY. SHERIFF IN VERMONT ARRESTS HIM.
(Received September 11, 11 a.m.) MONTREAL, Sept. 10. Screaming and fighting madly, Harry TEaw, in an automobile, was carried across the frontier and released in Vermont State, where a United States sheriff arrested him. The immigration authorities at CoaticQok, Canada, refused to account for their action, save by stating that they had acted under orders from the Canadian Minister fpr Justice. Thaw's and' family are dumbfounded. Thaw refused to leave the Coaticook detention shed, and the immigration officers dragged him screaming downstairs. Thaw fought all the way to the. border. HOTEL GUARDED BY POLICE. EXTRADITION PROCEEDINGS STARTED. (Received Last Night, 10 o'clock.) NEW YORE, Sept. 11. To prevent the possibility of Harry Thaw" being kidnapped before measures are completed for his extradition to New Hampshire, the sheriff at Colebrookreswore ,in special constables to guard the Hotel where lie is detained. / Extradition proceedings will be immediately started. ' Thaw refuses to discuss his forcible return to the United States.
