COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.
SPECIAL MEETING. A- special meeting of the Masterton Competitions Society was : held. last evening t& receive the report of' the sub-committee set up to bring down recommendations in connection with the society's next festival. Dr. P. R. Cook presided and the sub-committee's report was read and adopted as follows: That the positions of adjudicators at the society's next competitions be advertised for in newspapers in Duriedin, Christchurch, Wellington and": Auckland, replies to same . to be treated as confidential. That no liability be incurred "on behalf of the society without the authority of the executive, or the chairman thereof. That entrance fees be fixed at 2s for sections for competitors over 16 of age, and Is for competitors under 16, excepting that contestants -under 12 years be free. That.more use be made of the second hall at competition time, to obviate late sessions. That the existing contract of the society's secretary be terminated at the end of the present financial year, and that applicalions. for this position be advertised for at a salary of £3O per annum. That no membership tickets be issued except on receipt of fees for same. That no necessity exists for the annual appointment of an organising secretary. That the society's future comtfetitions be held during the first week in September of each*year. Messrs A. Donald, E. G. Eton, W. Hand-Newton and A. C. - Prangeli were appointed scrutineers for the election of officers. ' Messrs R. «T. Young, C. Spencer Compton, and T. Jordan were appointed a committee to deal with applications for the position of secret tary.'
