LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR-,-NAMENT., WAIRARAPA SECURES A WIN. (By Telegraph—Press Assbbidiwn.) WANGANUI, Last Night. The annual. New Zealand Ladies/ Championship / Hocltej. -i v our.n"anieni commenced here Way" iST perfect weather, and en a good ground. The attendance was large. Twelve teams have entered for the tournament. The results of. to-day's play dire ft& follow :

"A" Srection,—Hawke's Bay- (6) beat Wanganui (2). The champions had all the best of the game ,and were never seriously troubled. At half-time the score was five to" nil in Hawke's Bay favour* but the second half was more even. Manawatu (7) beat Buller (1), after a good, hard game, in which Manawatu.was more Superior in tie circle. Canterbury (14) meat Taranaki (0). The Southerners' forwards were too warm for Taranaki, who were never in' the race.

In the "B" Section Wellington (9) beat Wanganui B.(0). The latter team consisted ofs school girls put in at the last moment to fill the place of South Taranaki, who failed to fulfil their engagements. Wairarapa (5) beat West Coast (0). /This game was not noticeable for anything brilliant, beipg hiofe of ft , scramble, Southland (7) defeated Ekeialltina (1). The first spell was very even, but the southerners demonstrated their, superiority va the concluding stages.
