' LONDON, Sept.; 4. The Berlin correspondent of the Times,, referring to the scheme to influence the foreign press in the interests of German trade and foreign policy, states that it is the ambition of Germany to be independent of the English cables, and that with this object, attempts are being made to establish wireless telegraphy between Nauen (Prussia) and Togo (West Africa), and Togo and the Cameroons. It ia also proposed to establish a German wireless chain in the South Seas. [ A station will be built at Samoa, with ' a range, of three thousand kilometres (18&3), 'and stations in New Guinea; ' and the Marshall Islands. All will be connected through the Dutch cable. Recent experiments. have stimulated these schemes. It is reported that connection will be also established between Hanover and Tuekerton (United States), with a range of 6000 kilometres (4098 3-5 miles).
