MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
MOXTHT/T. MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the MauricGviHc Gwnfy Council was held on Saturday, August 30th. Present —Crs. J. E. Pony (chairman), C. Seymour, T.. P. Larson. C Churchill Jackson rntcl H. J. Hagg. O. R. Judd was LTAiitrd W.vo of absence. Thocoimfy clerk, Kkotaluma, Vvrote requesting (Mogatfv. to ho appointed to meet the repre.ppiiiafivos of his council re division of heavy traffic license fees.
The deputy chief health officer requested a copy of by-laws, and forwarded application forms for registration under "The' Plumber*' Registration Act." Mr A. H. Escott wrote, pointing out that Mangatainoka Valley road was blocked by clips, and that the cleaning of the water-tables and some metal-patching was badly needed.— Instructions had been given to attend to these matters prior to the meeting. Olsen Bros, wrote, requesting the council to do something to render a gravel pit close to the formation on Mt. Bruce road less dangerous to.the school children using the road. Mr C. Burton asked for assistance in repairing the footbridge over the Makakahi river at Kaiparoro. He stated that the settlers would find the timber required, provided the Eketahuna and Mauriceyille County Councils granted a little assistance towards fixing it up.—lt was decided to make a grant of £l, Crs. H. J. Dagg and C. Churchill Jackson were appointed to meet the Ekotahuna County Council re adjusting license fees.
Uhe clerk was instructed to notify Messrs L. Parker and Co., sawmillers, Kaiparoro, to carry out repans on section of Mt. Bruce road adjoining their mill, in accordance with, agreement with the council. Cr. Seymour was authorised to see what can be done to fence off a dangerous gravel pit on Mt. Bruce road. Accounts amounting to £270 15s 4d were passed for payment.
