WORKSOP DREDGING CO.
ANNUAL MEETING. The sixth annual 'Meeting of the Worksop Gold Dredging Company was I held in the company's office, Porry I Street, Mastorton, on Monday evening. Tho following were present: Messrs D. J. Cameron (chairman), N. Miller, R. J.- Dagg, E. Richards, E., Richards, jun., H. C. Robinson, and , the secretary. In moving tho adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Cameron stated that there was not .much to say when their company was so successful. Every shareholder must, indeed, feel satisfied with the results which have been obtained from the claim. In tho previous vear tho conpany ha.d j 'dends 33s in tho £, and it was hardly anticipated that this would be repeated, but, however, this had been done by the company during the past year. The speaker stated that he had recently visited the claim, and had found everything very satisfactory, while prospects were very bright indeed. When the dredge had started working they had 50 acres to work on. The directors then secured another iSO acres f rcn a settler. When both*'.

they obtained a special claim of 50 acres, and this, too, had been worked out and ultimately surrendared to the Government, thus saving rent. The directors thereupon obtained an area of 80 acres upon which the dredge was at present working. This was a good claim —it was indeed a very good dividend-paying section. There Vra« a blight future before the oo*ripaiiy.. They had also a prospecting license for 80 acres up the river, and a similar area down the xiver. There was gold coming down the river, and there was some good ground to work upon. The returns that had been obtained
from the low-lying area of 20 acres had been very satisfactory. Mr Cameron fully explained the areas upon which the dredge would" work. Mr N. Miller secondedthe motion, which was'carried. Mr J. Hessey was re-elected a director unopposed. THe directors" remuneration was fixed at £l4. Mr A; Hathaway was re-appointed auditor. ' , * A bonus of £5 was voted to the secretary (Mr N. James). Mr % E. Richards, senr., paid a tribute to the splendid work the chairman was doing on behalf of the company. He moved a vote of. thamcs to the staff, and spoke in', eulogistic 'terms of the manner in which ■ the 'staff had done their workyjand rfcheir loyalty to the company. Mr Gamerpn Also:•' referred to sie capable staff the company possessed. The motion was, carried. Mr Robinson moved a vote of thanks to the directors, who, hefeaid, had done splendid work for the shareholders, and had worked most unselfishly in the interests of the latter.
