AN UNGRATEFUL OPPOSITION
It is very much to be regretted that Hi® Majesty's Opposition in tlib New Zealand Parfiament does not pay, greater respect to the opinions expressed by its newspaper friends. Only the other day the chief mouthpiece of the party in Wellington urged the Opposition to adopt every constitutional method of holding up supply uitil the "Reformers" were forced to .their knees and handed their resignations to the Government. And what has happened ? When the Imprest Siigply Bill was brought down on Wednesday, the Opposition made absolutely no attempt to hold it up. They did not put up the semblance of a light. The question of naval defence was disctlssed on non-party lines, and the Bill wag put through without a murmur. This is really most ungrateful on the part of the Opposition. It has been told that all i it requires to do is to hold up supply, and then —yes, and then! It is : quite evident that the Opposition is ! not looking for a dissolution.
