The game - was, fast and interesting throughout, resulting in a win for the .home team by 15 points to 13, after' an even contest all through.. Auckland liad. the' advantage at the beginning, putting on 9 points before the visiters had soored. The first points came as. the result of a fine penalty goal by O'Leary, and then'after a passing bout McGregor ; scored. Mackay scored later as the result of a dj-ibbMng rush. Neither try was converted. Australia's first score wasa goal by McMahon for an infringement in the scrum. Wallaoh got across later, McMahon converting; mkl the spell ended Auckland 9, Australia 8. Early in the secoftd half, McGregor scored from an opening made by Geddes, putting Auckland C .points in the' lead. Then Mackay made.the total 15, after & fine passing bout, the kick at goal failing. Australia rallied, and Carr scored from a fine opening made by McMahon. The game ended Auckland 15. Australia 13.
