FIGHTING IN MEXICO.
A TWO-DAYS' ENGAGEMENT. (Received August 13, 8.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 17.:. The State Department has been informed that several thousand Federal troops and Mexican rebels fought a two-days' engagement at Rodriguez, iSonora State, the result being indecisive. Both sides lost heavily in killed and wounded. I \ -•■ BRITAIN'S RECOGNITION/ * (Received August 13, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 17. The Tribune states that high quarters entertain the conviction that the British recognition of the Huerta Government is due to commercial influence. It ia asserted that extensile Mexican oil concessions were granted, contingent on Britain's recognition, and that Lord Cowdray exercised influence on the Foreign Office,-but it is suggested that Sir Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary) was improperly influenced.
