THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "ZUMA, THE GIPSY DANCER." Theatre-goers were presented with one of the best performances yet shown in Masterton, at the T.P. Electrio Theatre last evening, whore the bill contained several very fine film:c releases. "Zuma, tho Gipsy Dancer,"' headed a trio of stars, and was ' a very fine production, as was evidenced by the applause. In this picture the audience lives in a Gipsy world, and are in a state of wonderment from start to finish. The versatile Gipsy girl gives a remarkable account of herself, and introduces a fascinating dance. "The Face at the Window/' Ivalem's special,, also went well, and was deemed an excellent production. Another big feature \fiais felicfwn in "Laz,a, the Dancer." This was an English society romance, which showed a married man's infatuation for a society danseuse. The picture was at times thrilling, and the wife, in her attempts to regain her husband's confidence, has the entire sympathy of the audience. An excellent play, i which conveyed a fine moral, was the ' Imp Company's production of "Not - ing Shall be Hidden." "Becky, Beckey" presented Miss Helen Gardner, tihe famous Vi,tagraph blonde, in an exquisite comedy, which was much appreciated, Miss Gardner's winning ways captivating ladies and gentlemen who were present. An item of considerable local interest was "Bee Farming," which showed the working of hives and the fitting up of new swarms. Several, fine comedies were shown, among which were: "A. Gipsy Flirt" (Crystal), "Almost & Herd" { (Powers), and "Polly, the Girl Sooutj, and Grandpa's Medals" (Barker). This attractive series will he repeated this evening, when it should conI tinue to draw large houses.

TOWN HALL PICTURES. j "QUEEN BESS" j The Town Hall was crowded "last 1 night with a most appreciative audience, when the remarkable photoplay "Queen Bess," as produced by* the only, and inimitable Sarah Bernhardt, was shown for a first time. The picture gives a magnificent pourtrayal of the piece, and shows tho "fascinating l actress at her Best. Supporting this great film is 4 the sensational ;,ilrama, 'fßack from • '^A^cisteni:>Croini-: ancq that issfull of igneident is in the "Girf'of Sunset Pass/' whilst a strong detective drama is presented- in -'Miss Simpson's Jewels."' "The. Merry Widow" is a comedy that appeals to the risible faculties,! and "Bidoni Orderly" is. a side-split-ting absurdity. A charming sCenic study is to be found in "St. Cloud to Moray." Added to this excellent bill-of-fare is the latest Topical Ga-: zette, which is always fresh and interesting. Altogether, the programme is one of tlie test ever pro? duced in Masterton. Sarah Bernhardt in ''Queen Bess" is in itself worth the full price of admission. This programme will be shown, again to-nio-K*- n( j, -morrow night. Thl management of-thd.
