MURDER CASE.
THE MATHINNA TRAGEDY. (Received August 13, 10.50 a.m.) LAUNCESTON, August 13. The inquest regarding the death of William John Mullins, a farmer ac Mathinna, who disappeared on June 20th, and portions of whose remains are supposed to have been found in the debris of a huge fire, has ooncluded... As a result of the jury's verdict, Daniel Jones, a farmer residing in the .district, has been charged with murder, and his wife, Jane Elizabeth Jones, charged with being an accessory after the fact. [Jonos was a neighbour of Mullins'. Between the meji there had allegedlybeen "bad blood" over land-and "other transactions. On the day of the tragedy, Jones explained, he had been 'possum hunting at the time of the supposed .murder, which would account for shots then heard. Mullins on the day of the tragedy left home to inspect opossum traps which had previously been interfered with.] A LONGSTANDING FUED. (Received Last Night, 10.5 o'clock.) HOB ART, August 13. The chief points in the evidence against Jso.es was a long-standing feud over- land and other transactions with Mullins. It was alleged that Jones' boot marks and horse tracks were found in the vicinity, of the fire. His movements were suspicioaus on -tile day of the fused to assist in the search for Mullins.'
