CHIDLEY'S IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. TAKES HIM TO GAOL. (Received Last Night, 8.30 o'clock.) SYDNEY, August 13. Judge Murray dismissed Chidley's appeals against his convictions for begging alms and offensive behaviour in the Domain. On the first charge he was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment, and on the second he wae ordered to find a recognisance for his good behaviour for a year, in default two months. iChidley, arguing his own case at length, claimed that he had made a discovery of the utmost importance to humanity. The judge said he thought Ohidley was doing what he considered right, but there were things scientists might discuss at conventions which decent people did not care to talk about. It was not right that such questions should be discussed broadcast. Chidley has decided to go to gaol.
