STREET RIOTS IN ULSTER.
THE BELIEF OF DERRY. NATIONALISTS ATTACK A PROCESSION. (Received August 13, 11 a.m.) LONDON, August 12. Nationalists at Derry, Ulster, attacked a procession that was celebrating the relief of Derry. lhe processionists used revolvers, and the police used their batons on the Nationalists. Two of the police were injured by 6tones.
STONES AND REVOLVERS USED. MAYOR SEVERELY (INJURED. POLICE USE THEIR BATONS. (Received Last Night, 10.45 o'clock.) LONDON, August 13. There were thousands of people in the Londonderry streets when the Nationalists showered stones and bottles, and fired revolvers at the procession. They also made determined efforts to break the police cordon, but they were driven off by a series of baton charges. Roughs severely beat several strangers. * i "While rescuing an English visitor, who was being maltreated, the Mayor (Sir "W. McLearn) was stoned and severely wounded on tfie hoad. Nationalists stoned a Unionist in Foyle-street. The latter fired a revolver at his assailants, wounding a constable. Another Unionist kept the crowd at bay with a revolver, while mounted police rescued him, hitting the crowd with the flats of their swords, and injuring several." BoYh Unionists were arrested. The mounted police made a final charge at midnight, and cleared the streets.
