DRAINING OF SCOTLAND.
A Home paper of June 28th, which has been plaoed at" our disposal by a ! Masterton resident, gives some idea of how Sootiand is being depopulated. During the five months ending May 81st, no fewer than 34,735 emigrants left the "Land-o'-Cakes.'' Of this number 22,321 went to Canada, 7133 to the United' States, 7437 to foreign countries, 2908 to Australia, 880 to New Zealand, and 661 to South Africa. The total number of emigrants from the whole-of the United Kingdom during the same period was 190,548. Of thede, no fewer than 102,275 went to Canada, while 28,949 went to Australia, and 5844 came to New Zealand. These figures are interesting, if not instructive.
