PANAMA EXHIBITION.
What will-be-the'attitude'." of the New Zealand Government in respect to the Panama, Exhibition? Will it follow, the' example-of. the United Kingdom, and Queensland, and refuse to make an .official display ? The question is of very considerable importance, and should not be dealt with in a hurried or clumsy manner. Have any cirouoistances arisen which justify the British possessions in standing aloof from the great world's fair? - If they ihave, what are those circumstances, in particular? As far as a layman can judge, New Zealand would have everything to lose and nothing to gain by refusing to establish an official court at the exposition. We are hoping to place much of our wool, frozen meat, and possibly dairy produce in the United States. Would it pay us to stand out in ;sucih circumstances? The Pre;miier is being questioned on the subject to-day, and we shall await his reply with a degree of interest.
