SIR JOSEPH WARD.
It i» quite evident that Sir Joseph Ward hais Hot yet forgotten his, treatment by the of New. Zealand.' Speaking at Auckland yester- , day, he, stated that he had no intension of forcing himself upon any party, or of asking or accepting any favour. In other words, he has madfeit clear that he ,will not accept the "leadership of a forlorn hope, nor will be humiliate himself jto accept favours from the Russells and Isitts. It may happen that he wall .be induced to try and produce a little cohesion in the Opposition rank®. But we are much, mistaken in the man if he sacrifices r his principles, and consents to be made the tool ot a handful of Radicals, Socialists and Bed' iFlaggers. Whatever else he may be, Sir is not a Red Flagger, and we> do not think he would dream of identifying himself with such a dangerous element in politics. ;.
