GEOLOGICAL SURVEY.
When the Hon. W. Eraser 1 was in Masterton, he was asked to send an officer of the Geological Department to make a survey of the oil and mineral areas in the eastern Wairarapa. It was pointed out that Mr'J. B. Henry had strongly recommend a survey of these parts, and that Mr Morgan, on a flying visit, had reporter favourably. It is satisfactory to note that the Minister #as now instructed Mr Morgan to make a detailed survey of the district. This, as we pointed out in a recent issue, will assist the Government in determining the best route for the East Coast railway. It is believed that the oil areas extending from Kaiwhata. Valley to Weber are of considerable importance, and that their development would be of., immense: value to the Dominion. The report of Mr Morgan will be awaited with much interest. ' '
