TOWN HALL PICTURES. The management of the Maaterton Picture and Emtertainmet Company announce that they will screen for one night only at the Town Hall this

evening k *.liio "Mission oi & J3uii©t>j a powerfully portrayed production of an exceedingly romantio and ■ interesting nature. The plot shows Bill and Tom, two ranchmen, who are both in love with Alice, unknown to h each other. They go to the goldfields. They become discouraged at ill-luck, and discover that they are rivals. They quarrel. A bullet from Bill's revolver discloses a vein of gold. Tom holds up the flag of truce, j and they renew their companionship. : When they have acquired a good pile tho men secretly write to Alice, renewing their proposals. Receiving < no response, they abandon their cbl in, and set forth for the village, er.ch 1 steadfastly keeping his secret. As they enter the town a wedding pro- I cession passes, and they discove. the bride to be Alice. Their eternal friendship is sealed. The whole stag- 1 ing of the picture is delightful, and the many realisic scenes are perfect. Another picture that is of considerable interest and full of appealingsituations if "From Country to Town," showing Tom, - a country 1 youth, who wins a scholarship, and goes to London. He meets Lady Eleanor, who is attracted by him, and brings upon him the scorij of his associates. Lady Eleanor, too', slights him, and he realises the true worth of his country friends. To them he ' returns when he has established himself as a. solicitor. May becomes his wife. Other pictures of interest are Calamity Anne's Vanity," Adven- • turers Outfitted," "Wife of His Choice," "Once Was Enough," "Raising Barley in Japan," and "Pesca-. ra," (a scenio gem). The programme is one that is sure to please to-night's audience, and as only one opportunity is offered to witness it, a large audience is assured. To-morrow night another grand change will be presented, and something very special is I announced for that night. The usual matinee will take place to-morrow afternoon. THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. A larga and appreciative audience was present at the T.P. Electric Theatre last evening, notwithstanding big counter attractions' the competing teams for the Nordon Cup were also present. The programme screened was excellent in all quaraters, as was attested by the applause each item received. "The Mysterious Thief," which occupied pride of place, / was a rather unusual detective dra- • ? ma. A newly-married woman, whij^ ■ at her step-parents' residence on her j /honeymoon, received letters from her ■ scapegoat brother, demanding money ■ to save him from prison. The inge- [ nious way in which she secured * it/ ■ i and her ultimate betrayal forms an > interesting portrayal. "The ThirI teerith Man," an Essanay picture, was much appreciated, : as, also .was "He Never Knew," a Rex society drama which gave a splendid moral , lesson. Another fine drama was - "Nelly," romance of 1 slum life m New York., "Eclair I Journal" supplied the,latest fashions ? and topicatf events and included some very interesting feature. Other pictures of note wore " The Man' from the North Pole," and "The Firad - Cook," (Kalem), ahd "Two Heroes" . (Edison). For Saturday the main fe&- . ture will be a 3000 ft drama entitled "The Lady Crack Shot," which should prov3 very seasatioaal. }
