INCREASED ON DOMINION'S SHIPPING. MEAT AND GRAIN EXEMPTED. (Received Last Night, 10.55 o'clock.) LONDON, July 31. The "Morning Post" states that the Lloyds Underwriters have decided to raise the New Zealand homeward rates by 2a 6d per cent., except for meat and grain. They intend similarly raising the Australian homeward shipping rates directly an agreement can be signed. The "Morning Post" in its comments, states that it is remarkable that meat has been exempted. It adds: "It will be interesting to see how far the additional half-crown on Australian cargoes can be made effective."
