Mr J. Charleswqrth, architect, of Wellington; was a visitor to Masterton yesterday. Brigadier Oarrnicliael, of the headquarters staff of,the Salvatiop Army,was a visitor to Masterton yesterday. The death occurred in Masterton yesterday morning of Mrs John Kite, at the age of thirty-two years. The deceased, who was a daughter of Mr J. Olliver, of Lower Taueru, had been ailing for some time. She leaves a husband and two children. TEe funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon. •Mr John Grant, of the literary staff of this paper, who has bean confined to the Masterton Hospital ■'for some weeks with an attack of pleurisy, has sufficiently recovered to be able to leave the institution. The death took place at Tauherenikau on Tuesday of -Mrs Wilkinson, wife of Mr A. Ml. Wilkinson, a wellknown and highly respected settler. Miss Lock has resigned her position as teacher at the Weraiti household school. " ' The death occurred rather suddenly at Featherstou on Monday evening of Mr FStultip/ JyiJlis,- age of 66 yeans. Thelate Mr Wills had only recently taken* up, residence in Feathererton, having purchased the property known as "Newstea<L": formerly owned by the i la Mr F. Monckton. Death wae due to heart trouble, from which the deceased had suffered on and off for some years. Mr Wills came out to New Zealand some 41 years ago, and settled in Wellington. Mr H. P. von Haast, of Wel'ington, received cabled advice oai Tuesday' of the death of his mother, Lat'y von Haast, which occurred r.fc on Monday. Lady von Haast, tv» waa in her 70th year, was the eldest daughter of the late Mr Edward Dobson, 0.E., of Ohfistchurch, one of the Canterbury pilgrims, and was the widow of the late Sir Julius von Haast. The death occurred on Tuesday afternoon of Mr Samuel' Jackson, the father of the legal in Auckland, at the age of 83. Deceased was a member of the firm of Jackson amd Bussell, and was admitted to the Bar in, England in 1853.
