CAT AND MOUSE ACT.
m MR ASQUITH'S PROMISE. (SYDNEY "SUN" SPECIAL.) (Received July 26, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 25. At a meeting of a committee favouring repeal of the "Cat and Mouse Act," held in the Caxton Ball, a letter'from'Mr Asquith, the Prime Minister, was read, stating that if the findings of the conference were submitted' in writing he would give them careful consideration, 'but he added I that it did not appear-to him that any good purpose would be served by receiving a deputation with reference to the Act, which was recently passed after full debate.
